Privacy Policy

KonnectWear ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by UnboxedJS. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our Android phone app, Wear OS watch app, and website (collectively, the "Service").

By using KonnectWear, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Display name
• Profile photo (optional)
• Phone number (optional, for phone/SMS authentication)
• Authentication credentials via Google Sign-In, email/password, or phone OTP

1.2 Profile Information

You may optionally provide:

• Date of birth
• Height and weight
• Gender
• Emergency contacts (name, phone number, relationship)

1.3 Health & Wellness Data

With your explicit permission via Android Health Connect, we access the following health data types:

• Heart rate — BPM readings and resting status
• Steps — daily step count
• Sleep — total, deep, light, REM, and awake minutes
• Distance — distance traveled in meters
• Calories — active and total calories burned
• Exercise sessions — duration of active exercise
• Hydration — water intake tracking (phone app only)

Health data is read from Health Connect, which aggregates data from your phone sensors, Wear OS smartwatch, and other connected health apps. We do not write health data to Health Connect except for hydration entries you manually log.

1.4 Sensor Data (Watch App)

The Wear OS app uses the following device sensors:

• Accelerometer — used exclusively for fall detection. Acceleration data is processed locally on the watch and is not stored or transmitted except when a fall event is detected.

1.5 Usage & Analytics Data

We automatically collect:

• App usage events (e.g., features used, screens visited)
• Crash reports and error logs (via Firebase Crashlytics)
• Device information (model, OS version, app version)
• Performance metrics (via Firebase Performance Monitoring)

1.6 Subscription & Purchase Data

When you subscribe to a paid plan (FamCare or Elite), Google Play handles all payment processing. We store:

• Subscription plan type and status
• Purchase tokens (for verification)
• Transaction history

We do not collect or store your payment card details. All financial transactions are processed by Google Play.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the Service — display health dashboards, calculate vitality scores, power the Living Canopy visualization, and enable step challenges and leaderboards.
• Enable Wellness Circles — share health snapshots and vitality status with members of circles you join.
• Send Alerts — deliver wellness notices for unusual health patterns, SOS alerts, and fall detection notifications to your circle members.
• Sync Data — synchronize health data between your Wear OS watch and phone app via the Wearable Data Layer API.
• Manage Subscriptions — verify and maintain your subscription plan and feature access.
• Improve the Service — analyze usage patterns, diagnose crashes, and improve app performance.
• Communicate — send push notifications for health alerts, circle invitations, and challenge updates (with your permission).

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Within Your Wellness Circles

When you join a wellness circle, the following information is visible to other circle members:

• Your display name and profile photo
• Your vitality score (0-100) and vitality status
• Your daily step count (on leaderboards)
• Health snapshot summaries
• Emergency/SOS alerts you trigger
• Messages you send in circle chat

You control which circles you join. You can leave a circle at any time to stop sharing data with its members. You can also toggle health sharing on or off in your settings.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or health data to any third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

3.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, such as in response to a court order, subpoena, or government request.

4. Health Connect Integration

KonnectWear integrates with Android Health Connect to read health and fitness data. Key points:

• You must explicitly grant each Health Connect permission. You can revoke permissions at any time from your device's Health Connect settings.
• We read 9 data types: heart rate, steps, sleep, distance, active calories, total calories, exercise sessions, hydration, and active calories burned.
• We only write hydration data that you manually log.
• Health data read via Health Connect is transmitted to our Firebase servers to enable circle sharing, vitality calculations, and cross-device sync.
• Health Connect data usage complies with the Health Connect developer policies.

5. Data Storage & Security

• Cloud Storage: Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (region: asia-south1) with encryption at rest and in transit.
• Local Storage: Health data is cached locally on your device using Android DataStore with encryption. Offline data is queued and synced when connectivity is restored.
• Watch-to-Phone Sync: Data syncs between your Wear OS watch and phone via the Wearable Data Layer API over Bluetooth/Wi-Fi.
• Access Controls: Firestore security rules enforce that your personal health data and profile are accessible only by you. Circle data is accessible only to authenticated circle members.
• App Check: Firebase App Check with Play Integrity verifies that requests originate from genuine app installations.

6. Data Retention

• Health Data: Retained for up to 90 days (configurable). Older health snapshots are automatically deleted.
• User Profile: Retained for the lifetime of your account.
• Emergency Alerts: Retained for 30 days after resolution.
• Consent Records: Retained as an audit trail for up to 1 year.
• Purchase History: Retained as an immutable audit trail for subscription verification.

You can configure your personal data retention period in app settings (default: 30 days, maximum: 90 days).

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — update or correct your profile information in the app settings.
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data. See our Account Deletion page.
• Data Portability — your health data originates from Health Connect, which provides its own export capabilities.
• Withdraw Consent — revoke Health Connect permissions at any time from your device settings. Disable health sharing or leave circles from within the app.
• Restrict Processing — toggle off health sharing, notifications, or leaderboard visibility from your settings.

8. Children's Privacy

KonnectWear is designed for families, including monitoring of children's wellness within family circles. Children under 13 must have their account created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@unboxedjs.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or sending a push notification. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised.
